Is Polaris the only place where I can pick up a blank to have a spare ignition key made? $10 is highway robbery for a blank key that I then have to go get cut somewhere.
I first tried Wal-Mart but they didn't have one, although they did tell me I needed a HYD12 ( by Hy-Ko ). I then tried Lowes with no luck and then visited a local lock smith. They had blanks (same as Yamaha blanks) and it cost me $5 for a cut key and $2.50 to cut the blank from Polaris. So the Polaris key ended up costing me $12.50, plus tax and the 'local' key $5. Now I have 3 so that should be enough.
Tape it inside the rear tool box. If some one is going to look hard for a key they are going to steal it anyway. Local locksmith charged me $3.15 per key, tax included.
I have my extra quad key in my truck storage box. I'm never without it since I'm always using my truck to pull the trailer to the trail whether is just me or with friends.
Some atv dealers have them but there are different blanks. I was told to bring my key in to match the blank but I also had to take it to someone else to have it cut. I paid about $9.00 a piece and $3.00 for the Polaris boot.
my mom just had a set made due to the loss of her only key. and the key blank for her 2004 500 was a hg108.
