Paid house April 2015. Started building 30x40 three car garage June 2015. Paid it off last Friday!!!
My father and I just got a New Holland tractor for our driveways and his 156 acre farm and camp. Should be payed by July.
Next is pave the driveway.....$10+k ouch!
ONE THING AT A TIME!
I agree 100%, more equity = more borrowing power. One payment can be doubled or tripled to pay off faster.

Thanks,
Will

I totally agree. which is why the daily driver is coming first. As I have a placed to live. Once the trucks paid off I'll worry about the house. It's also why I haven't gotten a toy yet. and lets face it, I'm not working a farm with it, or anything even close. so that's all it is, is a toy.

Everyone's situation is different gentlemen. And everyone's priorities are different as well. Right now, I'm in need of a daily driver that is going to last me a long time. As I'm not buying property until after my divorce is final, and I've been paid out for my share of the equity of the home. My ex will have 5 years to either buy me out, or sell. My truck will be paid off in that time frame. I have a place to live in the meantime that halves the cost of what my mortgage payment was/will be. and doesn't cost me anything in Utilities. So I'll have the option of making extra payments on the truck to get that paid off much quicker.

thor , dont listen to what everyone else says . they are not you . they are stating thier opinions , and opinions are like assholes .... everyones got one , some have 2 , one above thier shoulders ! do youre thing . i dont see how some of these people are paying off thier houses , trucks , tractors , and what have you in a year or 2 ??? must have alot of extra cash laying around , maybe govt subsidies for the crops ? having 3 incomes coming in ? youre doing the right thing , a house PURCHASE is not the first thing you do !!! you need a reliable car that suits your needs to get to work and make the money . does not make sense to buy a reliable small car , then need to buy a second one to tow your "toys" with . get youre truck , have fun , wait until all youre legal junk is over and finalized then youll know exactly how much youll actually have to work with .

Exactly. They're welcome to their opinions, both of my plans and my choices. They won't effect how I proceed with my life. Based on my calculations, Even with Child support payments, I'll be better off financially divorced than I am married due to the reduced housing cost and minimal debt being carried over from marriage. This is mainly because my ex was essentially a stay at home mom, and didn't contribute much financially to the home.

Note to self - next long term relationship - No Joint Account, and equal financial responsibility for house hold costs. The whole 50's house wife lifestyle is BS. Never again.

I don't want a sugar mama. I make great money, especially for the amount of effort it requires. I'm just tired of being limited because my "other half" has no ambitions of their own.

Thor....there's a very real difference between a sugar mama and a well paid responsible woman. Theres nothing wrong with being in a relationship with someone making as much or more than you do. If you keep separate banking accounts and you spend your money and she spends hers...everyone will have the feeling that they are actually working for something other than to just give it to the spouse to spend. My second wife and I have this agreement and it works perfectly. I never have to ask permission for a purchase and neither does she. If we can afford something we buy it.
