Almost Tipped It Over!

Wow, I came close to rolling the bike down a hill sideways this afternoon.
I was in my own backyard, which is quite hilly, and managed to slide the bike sideways into a hole that is at the top of a hill........very steep too! Anyhow, as it went in I scrambled across to the high side of my bike and managed to stop it from going over. The problem now is that I am on the left running board, hanging onto the left handle bar. Great! The left side of the bike is off the ground and the only thing keeping it from rolling over is my weight, which is perched precariously on the left handle bar. So I have a dilemma. I can let go and watch the ATV roll sideways some 20 feet down the hill or I can try to reach for the throttle and hope for the best. I choose option number two but as I lean across to access the throttle I also shift my weight towards the downward side of the bike, which immediately responds by tipping further away and towards destruction. Crap! I'm stuck. I can't seem to reach the throttle without moving too much weight towards the downward side of the bike.
Anyhow, after some contortion I managed to hang low enough off the left side and got my index finger on the throttle. That was it. I pushed and hoped for the best. The bike lurched forward and out with me bouncing along, hanging onto the left handle bar. Some fun eh?
Back in the house now enjoying the fire and a beer.

Yes

no damage done. Scared me pretty good though. I will get some fill into that hole as it is right on my trail. I had an issue with it during the Winter but, as it was full of snow and ice it wasn't as exciting as this instance.
Fright is my cardio workout for the day

good to see that you made it ok!!
you know when I was reading that I was thinking how much I have changed my riding style. kinda wondering if anyone else thinks like I do. I'm self employed so if I am laid up in the hospital I'm not making any money at all and besides that I'd hurt if I got tossed.

when I was young I didnt think nothing of going up a hill now I look at it with much more caution and think about the best way to get up and out if something goes bad before I push the throttle to head up a hill or hazard. Do any of you do the same? Or am I just a OLD FART?
