How much does your dealer charge for?????

I just thought I'd ask...How much does your dealer charge for an lube/oil change? And how long does it take?...I ask because I took my bike for its first service and its $300 for an oil change and the dealer told me it will take 1 WEEK......It strikes me as odd...considering to get an oil change on my ford pickup, it takes about 45 minutes and $60-$80....Is there something I'm missing....

And is this right..if I take my bike to a ATV mechanic that's NOT the popo dealer does it voids my warranty? because I know I guy who use to be a popo mechanic at the dealer I go to...and hes less then half the price...for all services...

Oil change and grease and check over the bike was about $30 for the oil and filter and half hour labour which was another $30. So about 60 dollars plus tax. To get the oil change and all the other fluids except anti freeze changed was about $120 plus tax.

Usually if I get it there early in the morning they will have it done that day. However this time of year they the dealers are probably busy because alot of people would be looking to get their machines ready for the summer which might explain why they told you a week. A buddy of mine wanted to get his boat serviced and the dealer told him it would be about 6 weeks because they had a huge backlog.

that price is way out of line!

voiding your warranty is a load of crap. it does not void your warranty if you do it yourself. so a mechanic that you trust that treats you fair is your choice and should not void the warranty. that is not right. i would use who you trust and is fair and just tell them you do the maintenance yourself if you need the warranty. warranties are against factory defect. not for mechanic failure anyway.

DO IT YOURSELF!!!!

I buy my oil 0W40 MOBIL1 at Walmart or a auto dealer when on sale and stock up. Filters at NAPA.

About 30 minutes a little more the first time and your all set!! Keep the $$ saved for a couple beers when the riding's done!

$55 Includes all supplies and labor. If I call ahead they'll do it while I wait. For the approx $25 worth of labor it's not worth it for me to change it myself considering they also grease everything.

i change all my fluids myself and keep all the receipts and write the date, miles, and hours in the maintenance schedule in the back of the book that comes with your machine.

yup, you nailed it bruce...I found out today it's $100 hr for labor .....so I am assuming that explains the high cost....and after reading these posts (thanks guys) it will not be going back to the dealer for routine maintenance..(just check ups before the warranty is up)I will do it my self or have a guy I know, who is very trusted do it for me for a fraction of the price...what air filter would be recommended..
