please help me

i have problems w my sportsman 500 i recently got it and know less than i wish about it. i removed the carb and cleaned it all. changed all fluids greased etc. brakes you name it,. i repaced the rewind spring and pull rope, when i did i cleaned all rust from the flywheel starter and the other thing in there, stator or magnito? not sure. but i put a little grease on the gears and flywheel only a little mind you. when i tried to start it it would only start when i let off the start button and only after trying it several times. it also backfires sometimes then i hit the start button and let off quick and it will start and run great until 3/4 throttle up. i took the cover off the flywheel and found a milky white slime, prob mix of grease and brake clean ,prob bad for things so i cleaned all and left dry and put back together, still the same!! i also changed the stock air filter w a k&n high flow. what is in w the starter and flywheel? could i have damaged them? and would the air filter cause the bogging at 3/4 to full throttle? pr perhaps the revometer is bad?

hey well ive taken it off and cleaned it and also taken it back off to ensure the choke and throttle are working right. they looked good. there are no mixture screws just the idle screw. the only prob i know of w it is the drain screw wont stop dripping but the float n needle seem in working order. would the needle valve bein bad do this?

The needle seat is bad or trash is in the carb. That will cause it to run bad.

The needle seat is causing all of your problems. Also pull the seat out and make sure the "o" ring is good. I could be worn out(not a sharp point or bad edges) or a small piece of trash in it.
