Going to apply with Polaris
My ultimate goal is to take my very recent BFA in Industrial Design and be on the team that will be designing the next ATV, snowmobile, Ranger, and RZR. But for right now, I would take a position working in their warehouse just to get my foot in their door.
We will see what happens! I have a few dream companies to work for because of the type of industry they are in. This would be one of them.
Maybe a move to Minnesota might be in my future? Won't hold my breathe, but I will cross my fingers.

Haha, I wish! It would be a cool job though. Working on stuff that wouldnt see the light of day for 3 or more years, if ever! They actually have a perfect position available for me, the only thing I am missing is the 5-7 years of experience since I am a newbie right out of college.
But, if I can just start working for them, I would stand a better chance working my way up to the R&D team!
I actually have a project I need to construct and polish for my portfolio, which would be great to show Polairs. I cant say too much about, since I dont have the idea copyrighted and there is nothing out in the market like it currently. But I can say it would be an "offroad work/recreation" vehicle of sorts, just significantly different in construction and ability. Probably not feasible to build today, but they way technology and manufacture ability grows every year, it could be a feasible machine to build in the years coming. The construction and materials I have chosen also take into account where our energy and materials needs are headed, not where they are today. Another reason why it would probably not be feasible to build today.
I have built mock ups of the vehicle cabin space out of plywood and misc. metal parts, and then had many different people of different heights and sizes sit inside of my mock up cabin, while I took many pictures of these people with an inch scale in the picture, so I could review, research, and understand the needs of the human body as far as space and ergonomics inside the cab goes. I will say, my vehicle design has unconventional controls (not a steering wheel) and provides multiple seating positions. It would be like a ranger, or Rhino, but be the very "multi-purpose".
Thats all I will say now. When I get the project done, and protected, I will share it.

I hope that you can land a job at doing something you enjoy. Always when selecting a job, if you don't like it and put hard work and effort into it you will get nothing out of it. Remember you have to start somewhere on the bottom of the pole and then work your way up. I started in auto parts before I got out of high school. Continued working part time and going to college full time. I got an AASD in criminal justice. Now 23 years later, I manage a auto parts store. I found out I liked auto parts more than I would like the criminal justice field.
Good luck with everything.
Never give up on your dreams.

Blue, when you get there, get them to fix the oil in the airbox problem on the 850's and issue free retrofit kits to owners.
I saw a polaris job rec once for an ATV tester. How cool would that be? Get paid to ride ATV's all day. Sign me up!!
