Carpenter Ants

Anyone had carpenter ants? I have them in outside wall of house. coming in around window sill. exterminator come out and could not see them outside. He recommended going with first treatment of dusting outside of house and in the attic for $200.00. I think I will get a second opinion. I feel like they have to have a nest inside the wall so why waste time and money with spraying outside and in the attic. And when I asked him about treating the walls he talked about one small hole and injecting dust. Would'nt you have to create several holes across the wall. If you just did one hole that would only dust that one 16" area in between studs. right? what if the nest is in the next cavity/space. Plus you have all that insulation in the wall.

I bought a anteater and that took care of the problem. Just kidding, you can buy "ant killing" pellets that you spead around on the ground and they pack it off to the nest and takes care of them. But we don't have much in the way of ants up here!

thanks. I just talked to another exterminator and he told me that you can get rid of them by just treating the outside since they dont just stay inside. They come and go from inside to outside. He is coming to house in the morning.

carpenter ants

hey, I own a pest control company in ny, just doing the outside isnt gonna cut it, get the inside done also, dust all the pipes coming from the basement where they come thru the floor, dust under sinks and do a crack/crevice treatment throughout. usually a one time service might run 200-300 with a few month warranty, good luck

I have had real good results keeping them at bay with a yearly application of Splenda artifical sweetener. YES SPLENDA you buy in the grocery store and people use to sweeten things!!! I sprinkle it around the base of the foundation.

See it KILLS ants!! Ants love sugar, so they eat it and take it back to the nest. It kills them!!

I don't know how well it would work in your situation, Mental ward is probably best source for how and what to do.

I am a little nervous about using it in my coffee now, but will certainly use the remainder of my bag of it for taking care of these little buggers.

YUP... I laugh when I read the cans of things using artificial sweeteners... NOTHING is in them... NONE of those artificial sweeteners or chemicals they add are good for you!!!

I stopped all extra sugar about three years ago. Stopped nearly all sweets too. Its amazing to me, I never liked coffee so much... To me its much fuller tasting with out sugar or milk to mask the flavor! I bought a fancy "K" cup coffee maker and this thing rocks!

Just so you dont think I'm a wacko, I had a heart attack and was forced to re-access my food habits... I learned allot just reading labels!!
