Video Camera

I want to get a video camera, I've been looking at one of those go pros. I need something waterproof since I'll be bringing it kayaking and other outdoor endeavors. Has anyone used these or have something similar?

my youngest has one he uses on his surf board, the only issue he has had is the charging port on the camera broke and he couldn't recharge it. he got it replaced for free but I'm not sure if it was through the camera manufacturer or an extended warrantee he bought from the store.
