restoring a old toy tractor
I am in the process of geting a toy tractor restored. I am having someone locally paint it for me. It is a 1466 Turbo IH(International Harvester) dual rear wheel with a cab. I needed a decal kit and an exhaust stack. I called several places with no luck. I found a company that sells parts to restore toy tractors. They are nice people. The name of the company is Burkholder's Midwest Parts and Decals located in Michigan. Phone number is 517-467-7033. The are sending the replacement parts. I hope to get them within a week. I got this tractor for Christmas when I was a child around the early to mid 1970's. I am 40 yrs old now. I even have a photo of me with my dad on Christmas morning when I got it. My dad passed away in 1997. Once I have it restored I am planning on giving it to my son(who will be 7 yrs old) for Christmas this year. This tractor was played with alot. It is made of good metal. Back then there was no such thing as staying inside an playing a Wii. LOL. If everything works out I know of at least 2 people that will be excited on Christmas morning.
Thanks everyone for reading my story.

Here is the picture of Terry's Project Tractor:
This will be a great project. Take lots of pictures of the whole process and his face when you give it to him. Get somebody to take a picture of your face too. We'll see who is grinning the biggest. Good luck with getting everything you need.

Thanks for posting my pic. That's why they call you "Big Dog" lol. I plan on posting a few pics when my son opens it on Christmas morning. I am almost in tears just thinking about how big my dad was grinning when I got it for Christmas. I will probably be in tears. My dad and I were real close. I am crying now typing this. It just brings back too many memories.

I think that is great! I had a pedal tractor when I was little, everything on it is metal not like all the plastic ones today. I was hard on and after all of these years my dad restored it and my nephew and my son ride it now.

The decal kit and muffler came in yesterday. I have already given them to guy guy working on it for me. I forgot to take pictures of the new parts. I hope to find the pic of me and my dad soon.
Thanks

OK, time for an update. It's been a while. Should be close to finished, according to my calculations.
