I don't really care for it, that's alot of weight that's way to far behind the rear axle

weight isn't so much of an issue, the length of load compared to center of wheels is the issue, just get a trailer much safer and in most areas probably less chance of law getting you for over length compliance...

I'd be fixing the setting the height of that thing by welding a triangular support bar at that 90 degree corner coming out oft he hitch.

It looks like an accident waiting to happen. In my opinion that is far to much weight too far back from the receiver. Buy a trailer and keep your load safe.

How would you fit two in the bed? My 500HO is 83", so two would be 166". Lets say 170" to allow for bumpers/tieing down/etc. Your 8' bed and tailgate would be about 116" surface length. That means to hold the quad you would need it to stick past the end of the tailgate about 54". This would be about 70-80" leverage sticking out from your receiver hitch, let alone being 74" (54" +20" tailgate) from back of truck, which depending on your state would not be legal.

As the others have said, don't do it. Get a trailer.

I may not be a Engineer, but I play one at work. The best part of this post is the advice you have gotten about it not being safe as pictured...

It definitely could be made to work, but that design should never have left the drawing board.

Better design would be to build a front tire rest on top/above of the box and be able to close the gate...

If you could design it to split the load between two receivers, than I think that might work. It would definately reduce the twisting effect when hitting bumps, or loading and unloading.
