Twas The Night Befor Nixon - A Campfire Story

A short intro.
A couple of guys went out for a Friday night ride, prior
to a big Saturday ride. On top of the mountian, both
battery's went dead and they spent all night hiking
back to camp. Of course the blame was a "Magnetic Anomaly" ???
Anyway here's the Poem. Enjoy.

Twas The Night Before Nixon.

Twas the Night Before Nixon and all through the camp.
Larry and Dennis were stirring, and the weather wasn’t damp.
The geriatric bunch were snuggled deep down in their beds.
While visions of Jean’s hot chocolate, danced in their heads.
After many a beer a night ride someone did say.
And without a plan the dynamic duo were soon on their way.
Come and join in the fun, You’re Ok, You don’t look ill.
But no matter how they tried, they couldn’t convince Bill.

Up Heather Mt. was the way of the route.
We’re having fun now, Boy isn’t this a hoot.
While zigging and zagging and having a thrill.
The road disappeared before Dennis, up there on the hill.
With a bash and a thud, and a dent in the side
Some winching was needed to continue the ride.
Flashing lights, then a stall, Larry’s quad wouldn’t go.
Now it was him that needed a tow.

Getting pulled down hill, Larry rode over the slack.
Then a big tug from Dennis, flung him around like a sack.
With arms waving and jumping, Larry signaled to Dennis.
It’s hard to get good help, you’re more of a menace.
Now it so happened that the SXS stopped running.
Believe it or not, you could see it coming.
So there they were sitting in the quiet and dark.
All because they couldn’t get any spark.

The batteries were dead, the wires they did stink.
But that was Ok, there was still beer to drink.
When what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But a Magnetic Anomaly, It couldn’t have been the beer.
With the beverages gone, and only one flashlight.
A decision was made to hike back to the Nixon Camp Site.

Dennis in his kerchief and Larry without his Cap.
Took a short cut down Heather, where there was a mishap.
Dennis stepped into nothing and landed hard the dark.
From whence there came a quite rude remark.
His head had a gash and his chest was in pain.
The Magnetic Anomaly would be what was to blame.
After brushing himself off, he still looked a mess.
A front runner for the Invisible Trophy, would be my guess.

After their all Night adventure they made it back to the site.
The Quads left up on Heather Mt. they’d get’m come daylight.
All tuckered and sore in their beds they did lay.
And completely missed out on a great Saturday.
What can be said about their all night session.
Is that Dennis has certainly learned a lesson.
So the moral of the story that I am here to say.
Is Beer and Night Riding is a big Nay, Nay.
In conclusion, let me say this as your Host.
Twas the Night Before Nixon will be added to the Camp Fire Stories Post.
