DWI and ATV's

You are out for the evening and stop at your favorite watering hole. Just maybe time got away from you and you might of have just a little too much to drink. Just what is your thought. A full blown DWI if you got stopped on the way home like you get driving a car Or maybe seeing you are off road and the only person you are going to hurt is yourself they should just give a little more leeway on this.

Well if u are off road u would not get caught ....right/// but if u get caught on the road ...well u should be treated the same as a person driving a car or truck as u could cause an accident with another vehicle or hit a person. That is how i see it

Disagree. My cousin died on his snowmobile after colliding with a tree after six beers. He also died BECAUSE he was alone and intoxicated. I hate to admit it, but before that happened we never thought twice about slamming back beers and driving. This was the first night he wasn't drinking with friends and left early. Had there been more people he knew you can rest assured he'd have had more than just six.

Not worth it.

Where I ride yes you could be caught off road by the DEC. They are always checking for insurance and registration. So what do you think also about DWI? In NY state it will be the same as driving a car on the road, how about your state?

Now the common sense got away from that person because they were just having a good time. Should they drive there ATV home? Maybe just at the limit .08 in NY?? All off road riding. They really don't act drunk. Not a wild type of person. Should the DEC give them a DWI??

They arrest people in New York for riding lawnmowers drunk, I'm pretty sure an atv will qualify. My personal feelings are anyone caught drinking and driving should be executed on site.

Each should know his/her limits. I know mine and even though I always drive rather slow on trails, there are plenty others that don't... I have seen plenty of accidents around where we drive wheelers, and sleds... Some were drunk and others were just stupid. I personally think machines, cars etc. have to much power and people abuse it, there have been many times I seen people on these fast machines missing corners, hitting trees etc. just driving to fast for conditions. I watched one guy cut his head clean off after hitting a wire rope which was around a bunch of wells at a trailer park, turns out he wasn't drunk just going to fast for conditions...

Common sense and all will be safe.
