Too much coolant?
I had to add some anti-freeze to my 09 xp 550, and i was wondering if adding too much is a problem. Thnx

no, your reserve tank has a overflow valve. if you fill it up too full, all that will happen is that as the coolant expands it will drip out of the reserve tank. eventually your machine will get the coolant level back to the proper level, so if its overfull, it will be common the see a puddle of coolant on the ground below the reserve tank after riding it

THANKS! when im plowing snow there is lots of steam coming out of the rad area, is somthing wrong?

keep in eye on it. continually check the overflow tank to see if it is above the "cold" line or not. if it is still, i wouldnt worry about it until it is below the mark. i might take it a few times before it levels itself out.
just check it before you use it and after when it has cooled down.
could also look to see if you can find out exactly where it is coming from. maybe you have a hole in the line that goes from the radiator to the overflow tank

The same thing happens to my sportsman 500 when plowing snow, it is just the snow spray and mist landing on the hot radiator. No biggie
|
