Cool "back to work"

Got the OK to return to work. The doctor said that the vertebrae that is compressed or crushed will possibly need surgery in the future. But for now I am at 80 to 90%. I have occasional discomfort, and some motions cause some pain. I have lost 20+ pounds from getting some exercise and watching how much I eat, and somewhat what I eat. I am still going to physical therapy for another 2 weeks. Most times when doing exercises at PT and at home dont cause pain. I am going to try to get more of the excess weight off and keep it off. I am going to try to keep motivated to keep up with exercise and trying to get in better shape.
I am still going to take it easy, and slow down. Not a teenager anymore.

See you on the trails,

Ken

Thanks guys.

I picked her up on April 29th, rode around the yard a little and let my step daughter put some time on it before I went to ride in PA with slyder01 at Majestic Trails. Rode for about 45 min on May 7th, and about a hour on the 8th. Since then she has been sitting except for once when I had to give my daughter her chance to ride it for a few laps. Total hours 4 and about 36 miles.

I am just hopping that I will be able to feel better than I do now. I am going to take it easy, and take it day by day. the doc said that I may have to have surgery if it becomes more painful in the future. the vertebra that was compressed is still that way angled forward, he says that i am leaning forward because of it. Another doc told me that it would eventually pop back up. time will tell, I am going to go see the chiropractor friend for a evaluation.

This will be a mistake that I will pay for the rest of my life. The best thing that I can do is loose the weight to take the strain off of my back. Looks like its time for a gym membership.

Later,

Ken

Back to work tonite. I must be doing something right, since my accident I have lost 33 pounds! Need another hole in my belt. I try not to eat as much and watch what I eat. I am trying to walk at least every other night. Feeling good, but will be cautious. I will be busy with the storm damage from yesterday, repairs and gassing generators.
Its crazy, I am excited to go to work.

Talking

Well last night went well, with the storms we had the other day in Cumberland County, I was moving generators around, picking up where commercial power was restored and replacing Ac generators with Dc generators (they have longer run times between fill ups, and will switch back to commercial power automatically). Did two man lifts on everything as these generators where over 125 pounds. Felt sore but didn't hurt, once I was able to get a break all was good. I still have 4 more visits to physical therapy and I am pushing myself there more each day cautiously, little by little adding more reps and weight. I actually used a machine today that worked my back and abs, with weights and not just range of motion.
I am going to get into their maintenance program, for $40 a month, I will have the use of all of the equipment there. Plus have the staff to help me with a workout plan, and to answer questions should they arise. The staff at the Bay SEA Physical Therapy in Vineland NJ, are all great people, Friendly and caring and easy going. this will help me keep motivated on working out. I got plans on how I will do this with my work schedule.
Feeling really good about what I have accomplished, I lost over 30lbs! Exercising, watching what I eat and mostly how much of what I eat. The only red meat that I have been eating has been from the deer that I butchered last deer season. I love processing my own deer. but thats a story for another time. Maybe tomorrow night I will start something on that. Grilling and baking, chicken, venison, pork, and fish.

Got to go to work,

Ken

I might even try for a ATV ride this weekend! Ill be the only 850 XP with one of those slow moving vehicle signs on the back! In fact I may just have to do that as a conversation piece. :-)
