Angry power loss on 500 sportsman

2008 sportsman 500 efi. will not achieve higher rpms, it started bogging down only when the engine was hot, but now it will seldom reach 6000. The only way i can get it to rev top end is if i take the air intake cover off. no blockage can be found. Could this be electrical?

Ken

Make sure there's no dirt diver nests in the tunnel lid. I've had that happen to my old Honda.

thanks guys but the only thing thats helps is taking the filter tunnel off. Then I have more power than ever before, and the engine seems to runs cooler. Could there be a air flow sensor thats messing with me. Im very green with this sort of thing, so any help would be appreciated.
