2008 Sportsman HO 500 EFI with only 1 rear brake??
Just bought a used and abused Sportsman....brakes arent working at all.
Seems to only have 1 rear caliper (right side). Can this be right? It seems like something that would lead to a sideways skid.
Obviously not the reason that the front brakes arent working, but just trying to figure out how much I'm going to be in for, and start ordering parts.

That seems about right. Only one caliper, placed on the RT rear wheel, is the way they come from the factory. The rear wheels are both "direct drive" like a straight axle so only one brake is needed to control both rear wheels. The front and rear operate independently and have separate hydraulic systems. They're rather simple, but I'd recommend getting a shop manual so you have all the information and specs you need to rebuild them properly.

Thanks for the explanation. Nice to know the 4th caliper would not really help any.
