'08 Sportsman 500 EFI...rear caliper, weird nut size?

Trying to change the pads on my Sportsman rear brake...it seems the hex key bolts that retain the pads are a weird size...smaller than 3/8", bigger than 5/16"...smaller than 10mm, bigger than 8mm. I've been to 3 major hardware stores including HD and couldnt find an in between size at any of them in either metric or SAE.
Am I missing something?

NVM, I managed to shoe-horn a 3/8" hex into one of the bolts which seems to be all I need to remove in order to replace the pads. Strangely it still doesnt seem to fit into the other bolt.

If its smaller than 10mm but larger than an 8mm, then its probably a 9mm. It seems like an odd size to me, but ive seen several manufacturers start use odd sized bolts and hardware in appliances and other things. I think its an attempt to keep people from trying to fix things them selfs.

Are you sure it's hex or is it torx?

Make sure that you use proper tools in very job so you can avoid damages the bolt could be worn out that is why it changed its shape.
