Pre-load adjustment opinions

Getting ready to head to Moab next week for the first time with my XP and I'm looking for opinions on what the proper pre-load setting should be on my springs. I've ridden there twice before on my X2, but thats a whole different machine with longer wheel base and heavier springs. My XP is not a touring model or X2, and I will have 4 gallons of gas on the front in Rotopax containers. Thanks for any advice or opinions.

I'm not concerned about the stiff ride and the extra clearance is always nice, but really don't want to go more narrow with all the off camber riding in Moab (some pretty extreme). Over all stability for steep climbs and off camber is what I'm looking for.
