2009 Sportsman 550XP one rear brake?

While changing out my tires I noticed that my unit only has a rear brake on one side.... Is this standard for the 550? My buddy has the 850 XP and he has brakes on both sides. I have never had an issue stopping but I am curious.

That's the way they make them!

Brakes are adequate, but with the XPs excellent engine braking and Active Decent Control its not an issue in the least.
