Rear caliper problems
I was thinking my rear caliper was seized on my 99' Sportsman 500. I removed the caliper from the bracket, tied it up with some wire, and moved the four wheeler a couple feet. Now I never removed any lines or anything, just removed the caliper. I went to reinstall the caliper and I had to pry open the brake some to get it to slide over the rotor. I got the caliper back over the rotor and got everything hooked back up. Now when I press the foot brake it doesn't close the caliper at all but when I squeeze the hand brake it closes just fine BUT the caliper won't open back up. Sorry if any of that is confusing. I'm thinking the caliper is seized and I've got a problem with the foot brake. There's no air in the lines. Any ideas as to what's wrong?

You likely blew the seals in the caliper... You should never depress the brake without the disc between the pads...
The piston inside the caliper is only designed to move so far. making it more farther can push it out of its bore, usually tearing the seals as it goes.
Sorry man, I am sure its not what you wanted to hear.

actually i just had a similiar problem. you need to adjust the nut on the lever on the caliper that gets pulled down when the brake pedal is applied, or if you get new pads and press the piston in with a c clamp or something and put it back together the lever on the mechanical braking of the rear works fine
