There is no adjustment except maybe than rear brake peddle height. I take it brakes were working before pad replacement? If so I would check the level of brake fluid in reservoir if it is too full, this cause pads will rub on rotor and the fluid brake to heat up and expand and with no place for fluid to go it will apply pressure up to the point it may lock up brakes. If level is OK I would check to see if the your caliper(s) are free on their mounting pins. If they are dirty and corroded that can cause pads to drag.

Morning,
Its been a while since I did mine, but on my wife's 2000TB you can (have to) adjust the calipers or they will rub as your saying.. I don't have the manual handy...
Maybe your years are different.
