Replacing rear shock.
Gang
Totally new to this site but i have found through other forums that there is alot of great help out there for guys that want to at least try.
I need to replace the rear shock on my 2008 pheonix. the back of the quad bounce freely up and down easy with no resistance.
Now it appears the change out would be east. Bolts at each end, but i have concerns around the spring the shock runs up the center through. It it like on cars where there is tnesion on the spring. If so i am lookking at the tricks of the trade on how to handle the spring. OR is it just on thier to catch the bounce of the machine and there isn't alot of tension on it?
thanks
Mike

There is tension, but being a smaller machine, it shouldn't be too bad. Although, too much to compress by hand. I spring compressor would be best to use.
You could also probably do it with a vice grip, some tie downs, and a large metal rod. I would suggest getting an extra pair of hands to help you. ( have any buddies who owe you one?)
Just always remember a compressed spring is like a loaded gun. It can do some serious damage to you. Especially if you are not using something design for this like a spring compressor.
