CW, thanks for taking the time to snap pictures of the rear HD spring install. I was wanting to do the same thing, and was wondering if the spring compressors from Oreilly would work. Looks like they will! Thanks!

Hey CW, I know this is an old thread but did the HD springs on the rear make the ride harsh when riding solo? I did the fronts not long after getting the 800 and love them and have been debating the rears. I run solo most all the time but run pretty aggressive and sometimes carry a lot of gear for extended stays in the boonies.

It will stiffen up your ride when riding solo.

NO< I do NOT find them too stiff. I like the firmer ride. Stock it was way soft to me, so I like the stiffer springs. Plus I am a bigger guy, I mostly trail tide at moderate speeds, I dont jump or "sport" ride this machine. At times I will "speed". : I too hall allot of things in my boxes.

Thanks so much CW. Since you never mentioned anything about getting the shocks off the machine, I assume that part was easy. Please tell me if I am wrong. I do have air tools and have currently borrowed spring compressors from a friend. I used them to change the fronts yesterday. I guess I will get ahold of Thor about some rears and not return the spring compressors immediately.

Ordered EPI HD springs for my 2010 550Xp today, from Thor. He got them out the door today as well. Tracking shows them at my door on Friday this week. Awesome job, Thor and great customer care.
My XP has only about 2600 miles on it and the suspension is sagging. I looked at the Polaris HD springs but decided that maybe the Polaris parts were not up to snuff, since my OEMs were sagging as are many on others machines. You would think they could get higher quality from the get go. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the stiffer suspension. Never did enjoy how my machine "dove" while breaking into a turn.
