HD Replacement Springs

I have an 05 Sportsman that has spring sag in the front. I was looking into replacing them with HD springs but came across some comments on the boards that the HD springs caused handling problems. Would appreciate any experience anyone has with the HD springs. Would replacing with stock springs be better? What about spacers?

Thanks for your input.

You have several ways to go with this.

Install HD springs from Polaris, Highlifter, EPI, etc.

Or if you want to add ground clearance put a lift kit on the bike. These are available from Rubberdown Customs, Highlifter, Superatv, etc.

Or you could use spring spacers.

Just finished putting HD springs in all four corners of my 2008 800 sportsman. The fronts made a huge improvment on handling IMO. I like a stiffer ride, the rears I did because my ATV would sit 2"-3" low with no rider or weight on it. I'm a bigger guy (6'3" 285 lbs) so I would bottom out on the stock springs, so I'm very happy with the improvments. Parts from Thor @ TheATVSuperStore.com: Polaris HD springs up front and EPI HD in the back . FYI for my 800 the fronts were very easy to install, the rears took alittle bit of time. Diffenently need a spring compressor to do the rears.

EXACTLY!! I couldnt agree more!!!!!

Im 6' 230 and love the ride with HD springs.

I have EPI HD up front and High Lifter HDs in rear!

There is a couple threads here reciently on this topic. Do a search maybe use my name to help. I added to a thread showing the complete rear spring swap. About a year back I did the same for the fronts.
No compressor needed for FRONT but defineately IS needed for rears.

You may notice the ride become a little stiffer but it will not negatively affect your handeling.

I did EPIs on the rear and would definitely like to hear feedback from you regarding your fronts once you get them on.

Mine also exibited much improved handeling. Less dive from brakes firmer more positive steering. Out back, far less squatting when you stab the tbrottle!!
