Help,no rear brakes!

I have a 2001 400 scrambler i bought my son and can not get rear brakes to work.i bought all new orings and seals for caliper and master cylinder, rebuilt them both, cleaned them all out spotless, installed new brake pads and blew out brake line.bled with all new fluid,i am getting could firm pedal after bleeding and good solid stream of fluid out bleeder, but when on jack stand, push pedal it will stop spinning wheel, but can turn wheel by hand and when riding it will not stop it at all, front is fine.going out of town riding thursday, looks as if he will have fronts only!

do the rear brakes work any better with the hand lever? it should control front and rear simultaneously.

Sounds like there is still air in the lines. I would try to bleed them some more.

IM having the same issue. I brought it to Polaris 2 times. After the worked on it extensively for 6 weeks in total, I get the quad back and the breaks still don't work. When I jack the bike up and rev it, the breaks do indeed stop the rear from spinning. But when its on the ground and your moving, theres just way too much force to bring the quad to a slow down. Also, when you do use the break, you need to put all your weight on the pedal to engage breaks. Im 190lbs and if I hit the break while sitting, I get zero slow down. When I stand I probably get about 30% slow down, but impossible to lock the rear up and skid. Any thoughts?

The best bet is to try and make the vacuum bleeder work. I had the same problem with the rear brake on my sportsman and kept bleeding it by hand but had no results. Used a vacuum bleeder and I can lock up the rear brake while riding now.

Try and find a vacuum bleeder with a small enough tip. Only one of my Polaris had any back brakes with the foot pedal only. After using the vacuum bleeder all three will lock the rear wheels.

I bought mine from Napa for about $25. It had a bunch of different size tips and the smallest fit.
