Spring Height
I went back 5 pages in this section browsing for spring questions along with performing a search and didn't come up with all my answers.
On my 2011 Sportsman 800 I can see that with a specialty tool I can adjust the pre-load settings on the rear of the bike. I cannot locate any such adjustment on the front struts? I'm i missing something?
Second is I purchase a Polaris Plow and 54" Blade and I have noticed Polaris are notorious for front spring sag. I'm interested in bolting on a set of Polaris HD springs or using Ranger springs?
Two questions: Do ranger springs fit front and rear and what year ranger should i purchase to fit my 11 Sportsman?
Second question: How much lift do Ranger springs offer compared to stock springs?
I've been told to purchase the 200# springs and not 250# because there are two types. I've also read the HD springs will put the bike back to factory specs in terms of lift but not really lift the bike much past the height it was designed for?
Everyone said the HD springs were a handling improvement and only harsher ride. Can the same be said for Ranger springs.
Thanks to anyone that can provide some information on all these questions.

There is only adjustment to the REAR on these machines...
Unsure what model Ranger to use. But why not buy appropriate springs, specific to your machine?
The only "lift" with be in removing the sag from your current setup. If you grab and lift the front of your machine and carefully set it down this is how it will sit with any spring... It's as high as it can get. Same for the rear.
OMG, who ever told you 200 or 250# springs is WAY, WAY off base!!! The rear of two up machines, like the X2 are 140# rear springs... That's the heaviest offered in a Polaris ATV. The HD fronts are 100 or 105# IIRC...
Again I am not familiar with spring rates of ranger UTVs.
I have HD springs front and rear in my 700 and LOVE THEM!! I'm a bigger guy at 6' 230#.

I check documentation on spring rates on my 800 and they are 100 front and 110 Rear, so I hope the HD Springs are significantly stronger. I love the rides this Polaris has, although i'm not as big of a rider at 6' 205 it's perfect for me but the front has me worried come plow season. I'll check my local Polaris Dealer for Springs.

HD Springs are 140 Non Progressive.
X2 Rear Springs are 130-150 Progressive
Figured I'd share some information I picked up.

Here is mine, HD EPIs up front and HD Hi-Lifters out back...
BTW HD REARS may be 140# springs but the fronts are lighter...MAYBE 125# but if so that's max! (On a Sportsman!) I found out that Sportsman rear HD springs are on RZRs as a front... (The box my rear springs came in said so.)

Polaris HD fronts lifted my 500 2" over stock springs. I did get some sag with my Polaris plow fully lifted on the stock springs. Haven't had the plow on with the HD springs to compare.
As far as HD rears, try stiffening the rear adjusters first. Mine are ridiculous rough riding when tightened, I can't imagine HDs.

Get some TM2 spring adjusters. Have them on mine and at bottom adjustment it sits level again with stock front springs. Rears r adjusted all the way up. If front sags with the plow it has 2 more levels of adjustment.

Good plan,
For the install, the fronts where cake. I didn't even need a compressor for them. BUT the rear... You must have a compressor! Read here... Coil spring install

Thanks for the link.
BTW next weekend coming up I will have a passenger and was thinking of bumping up the rear adjusters one notch. Could you tell me what kind of tool I need to turn the spring adjusters? I know I need to jack up the center of the bike to raise the rear tires off the ground, remove the wheels but after that i'm wondering how hard they are to turn?
