suspension problem in rear
I have a 2011 polaris sportsman 500ho and I am a little concerned with my rear suspension. I have not even a 150 miles on it but what's happening is when I get on it I can feel the suspension go down a bit which is normal. What concerns me is when I get off it doesn't recoil or let me better say this... rise back up to where is should be. Should I be concerned or is this normal. I don't do any hard riding period. It rises back up but not much. And I can walk to the rear of the atv and pull up on the back and it moves up about 2 to 3 inches. What do u guys think?

Is the wheeler still under the 6 month warranty? Both our wheelers spring all the way back up whe we get off them. About 1500 miles on the red & 2500 on the green. I think theres a problem some where in the rear suspention. You could try to turn up the spring adjusters on it but you shouldn't have to.

If you look at the bottom of the springs you'll see an aluminum piece that the springs sit on. It will have notches in it right under the spring & then alittle further down @ the bottom of the adjuster you will see that it has steps in it. As you turn the adjuster it will raise the preload on the springs. They make a special wrench for this but most use a large pair of channel locks. You need to jack the back of the wheeler up to take the weight off the springs making it easier to turn the adjusters (wouldn't hurt to give them a good spray of WD-40), most also remove rear tires to give easier access & have more room to do this. I would turn them up 2 steps to begin with.

Well I just checked it for sure. When I pick up on the back and lift up til it is at its highest point. From the bottom of the hitch to the ground it measures 15 inches. I rode it for a sec and around the yard ... got off and measured it without lifting up on it. Itb was almost an inch less . Little above 14 inches. I don't think it used to be this way.

It should spring back up for only having 150 miles on it!!. Try turning up the spring adjusters.
