Spring Replacement and shocks
If I buy new springs do I need to replace the shock as well? any way to test a shock to see if it's bad? I am looking to put HD springs on front and back.

I know that you can replace springs without replacing shocks. I am about to do so on one of mine. As far as testing the shocks, don't really know without taking it apart first.

If your shocks don't make "a hydraulic sound" when you push down on the rear of the bike, you will need a set of shocks as well.
Shocks provide the dampening, and the springs provide the lift. If you have ridden it a lot and it is riding low, you could very well have blown out the shocks. I learned this the hard way...

Did my front springs Monday. So much difference that I immediately ordered back springs. Shocks seemed to be in good shape
