Squeeky Suspension

I just purhased a new Sportsman 400 HO and have noticed that the suspension constantly squeeks the entire time im riding. I checked all the grease fittings and they have all been greased well from the factory. Could it be in the springs? If any others have had a problem like this please chime in. Thanks

The grease fittings are not full from the factory, even though they have grease on the nipple.

I grease my bikes every time i ride them because I have had to put new bushings in a trail blazer before and it was NOT fun.

FYI, mine still squeaks at the top steering pivot; there is no grease zerk there, but I am going to look into putting one on it.

A buddy of mine had a terrible whining noise on his 400. He just started leaving her at home.

I have the same problem somewhere in the rear suspension. Having trouble figuring where the squeak is coming from and I grease my zerks after every ride. I'm thinking it's coming from the upper arms that don't have the zerk fittings, but not sure. Annoying huh? Makes it sound like an old beat up wheeler, lol.

Interesting...the 2012 500 has 6 zerks on the rear, 3 on each side, for each pivot. None on the rear hub though.

I was disappointed there was not a zerk for the ball joints on the front

That's just new and very tight rubber bushings. Soak them all down good with WD40 or some other penetrating oil including the shock bushings and they'll quiet down.

Hey Sgtpatiolantern, I bet she wishes she'd kept her mouth shut now don't she.

Mine only has 2 zerks, one on each side in the rear on the lower arms. They must have gotten some complaints about not enough grease fittings and ended up adding some.

I greased all the zerks tonight and the front has really quited down. I think the rear is coming from the rear hubs. To bad there is no zerks on those. Oh well ill just keep riding. Thanks for all the replies...

Thanks polman, I used some WD40 on the bushings in the rear that made noise and now NO MORE NOISE!! That was an easy fix.

Yeah pathfinder, sometimes its easy to overlook the simple things. If the WD40 doesn't last or dries out try a little regular motor oil from a squirt can for a more long lasting fix.
