2011 Sportsman 500 HO Lift?????

Hey guys

Great forum, I am fairly new to the Polaris world, I have a 2011 that I bought new last year and mainly use it for hunting / recreational fun runs.

I would like to add a lift for a little more ground clearance, I will probably keep tires mostly stock as we hunt a lot of federal and state refuges (tire/lug size is regulated and can be a $500 ticket if caught out of reg's). I have searched and looked at a couple, highlifter and RDC. Highlifter states that the rear axle bar kit is required for their 2" lift but nothing is mentioned on the RDC 2" lift, since I don't plan to put mud tires on my ATV, can I do one of these lifts without axle modifications? How difficult are these to do by yourself?

Thanks - any and all feedback is welcome
Clint

I highly recommend the high lifter springs. You will need the sprp-adapter spring adapters for the rears. They are cheapest on amazon.com. The adapter you will have to buy direct form highlifter.

for trail riding I have highlifter HD springs in the rear, turned up 2 clicks. I don't have the fronts installed yet; this is the project this week.

The stock springs fatigue and sag very quickly. I can't believe polaris sells them like that.

Highlifter HD Springs all around, Moose pregressors on front (not activated). EPI 'patv1' primary clutch spring, UNI air filter w/ PJ-1 oil. K&N Model KN-303 oil filters. Bikemaster foam grips.

My ATV-GURU bumpers ARE FOR SALE, front and rear, BRAND NEW. Me a reasonable offer and they are YOURS.

(As you probably already know, they are currently unavailable from TheAtvSuperstore.com /ATV-Guru for an undisclosed amount of time).

My 2011 fit without the adapter kit... If you have the aluminum adjusters you dont need them

Thanks for the feedback, I may try the springs, the other reason is this past weekend I got in some water and I guess my spark plug boot wasn't secure and it stalled on me in a little current and water, so I was hoping a little more clearance would help, but in doing some research yesterday the Triangle stealth snorkel kit are now good for machines through 2012, so I may do the springs and snorkel kit, along with some die-electric grease around the spark plug.

If you plan on snorkeling your machine you also need to dielectric grease every electrical connection. Not just the spark plug boot. Also make sure when you install the kit that you silicon your airbox lid and inner belt box cover.

Superatv.com sells an ez-install 2" lift kit that will only take an hour to install. I take it on and off regularly and have had no drive system problems. If I had some money right now, I would go wit the HD springs.

haha wish I saw this post first. I just made a post about a 2" lift I am putting on my 2011 sportsman 500. I bought it off ebay its an ATV engineering lift kit. I will take a bunch of pictures of the install and report back with any hiccups. I am assuming it won't give me much more ground clearance but I figured I needed a weekend project and figured for $40 shipped I won't complain. I will be adding high lifter springs in the near future just for a firmer ride and less roll in the corners.
