Coil spring compressor

For those of you who have put different springs on your machines, what kind of spring compressor did you use?

I have the automotive style with the 2 clamps but as soon as it starts getting tight they start to slide around the coils. When the clamps slid they scratched the shit out of the springs too, so I don't want that to happen to my fancy yellow ones!

I got in my spring kit, and the asshat didn't include the washers for the bottom so I am going to have to think of something else to keep the spring centered.

I used a set of strut compressors and they works just fine. Fronts did nto need them at all, but the rears did... IIRC.

Converting to two up modifications...

Go to autozone or napa and give them a deposit of 30 bucks I think it is and use the tool, return it, and get ur money back. Best way to do it as ratchet straps can be dangerous

I took my 850's shocks to a spring shop after trying myself at home with straps and other things, and after my dealer tried. Wasn't cheap but nobody got hurt, and my hd springs didn't get scratched to hell after I painted them blue.

Just changed my stock springs for EFIs hd springs, used ratchet straps with no vice. Was easy and had no problems, and did not scratch my springs, don't know why your dealer couldn't even do that for you, pretty ridiculous actually. It's easy as can be, just take your time.

I agree, was a SIMPLE JOB!! NOT AT ALL like doing a car/truck!! ALLOT less pressure on the ATV springs, still could get hurt of your careless. But NOT difficult.

Ratchet straps are safer than a compressor from a parts house . Highlifter sells the PROPER tool for the job
