air ride suspension

anybody considered an air ride suspension for their xp? i've considered it for my touring. when my wife and i ride together i adjust my shocks to the stiffest setting to give the most clearance. but if i ride by myself i prefer the front be set to the softest and the rear set to the second softest. i think the xps handle better with the shocks softer. they dart far less when you get into the throttle on gravel or fire roads at higher speeds. plus, obviously they ride better to. any one have any ideas?

I think it would be awesome if you could get some air shocks for this quad. I know Can Am just did that on their Outlander Max Mud Edition for 2011. You would need an onboard compressor to get it to work though.

a friend of mine has a 2010 outlander max 800ltd and he has the air ride suspension. i like the ease of adjustablility. when he and his wife ride rocky sections where you need a lot of ground clearance its pretty sweet. then when riding smoother area's or riding 1up you can adjust it softer. i still think the polaris has a better ride than the can am.
how do you like your elka shocks? how easy do they adjust. the main reason i dislike the stock shocks is because you have to take the rear tires off to adjust the rear shocks very easily. the fronts adjust easy.

You could also get a small compressed air cylinder like a 1lb to 2lb nitrous bottle. Check out statelinecustoms.com they have an ranger airbagged on there

I love my Elka shocks. Since I got quad rate shock springs it's still smooth for slow riding, but stiff enough to never bottom out or dive hard under heavy braking. They are very easy to adjust. I can do everything on the front end very easy from the side of the quad. The rear clearance is so tight that the rebound adjuster is a chore to get to with the wheels on but i found the right tool at sears to give me access on the trails.

I found that after I got them tweaked in I haven't had to adjust them again. I'm sure that with my snowplow in the winter that I will have to crank the front preload up a bit, but that's cool. I know my settings all the way around so I can get back to it in tue spring.

This is probably a stupid question but would air shocks for automotive use possibly be used on the rear of a polaris 300 hawk eye.Just a thought you could install airline on rear of atv and air them up or let the air out when needed.Mounting bracket for shocks looks like a car shock would fit.Anyone got any ideas.

Even though they might fit the valving would be all wrong for an off-road application.

Anything is worth a try if you have the parts on hand

I know Thor had a Honda Rincon with automobile air shocks on the back. I saw the post on rinconriders.com. Shot him a pm.
