Sportsman 700 reviews

I just sold my 94 sportsman 400 2 stroke and now I am looking for a bigger quad. I am thinking about an older sportsman 700 so if you have one or had one what do you think of the machine? What should I watch out for when getting one? What is a fair price for an 02 or 03 700?

I had a 2006 700EFI and it was a good machine. It was more reliable and had less problems then the 850XP I have now.

I have an 02 700 and it has been a decent bike.

I had a rear diff go out. That's about it that wasn't my fault (I don't think)

I'm on the fence whether to sell mine or not.

It has about 1100 miles on it and I forget how many hours. The back rack is cracked. It has new rear diff and front brake lever with Master Cyl. 20 miles max since last service.

I was thinking about starting at $3000. I just don't know if it's worth it since I just put $1500 in it last year.

I can't speak much to reliability or problems, heck I've only had my '02 700 twin (w/ 877 miles if that matters) for about three weeks; a week and a half of that it was in for service... But I do know that I paid $3K for the quad, with winch, snowplow, hand/thumb warmers, storage items (sorry I don't know what they are called - one looks like a seat back with arm rests for the back rack and the other looks like soft briefcase for the front rack) and a two place snowmobile trailer. The previous owner paid for a full service. Friends tell me I "stole" it, I think I got a heck of a deal... From what little I have been able to ride it, it is probably bigger and more powerful than I need, especially as I am totally new to quads, but I couldn't pass on the deal. It's primary use will come during hunting season; dragging out lots of deer and hopefully multiple elk for me and my friends.

Sounds like you got a hell of a deal. I paid 3000 for my 01 sportsman 400 two years ago and I had to had to get a trailer after the fact.

I had an 03-700, put like 5000 miles on it, , make sure the breather hose recall is done and the intake boot between the motor and carb tends to split and start suckin air, you can check this by sprayin carb cleaner around it, if engine speeds up its cracked, other than usin alot of gas it was a good machine

I have an '05 700 Twin EFI, bought it used about 3 years ago, and have not had any problems with it. Just need to make sure you do all of the proper maintenance on it, especially cleaning the radiator if you are riding in mud.

i owned a 2003 polaris sportsman 700 twin for a few years. it was one of the best 4x4's i have ever owned or rode. very reliable. i actually bought it twice both times had been wrecked by the owners. i fixed it and sold it twice. i sold it for $2,400 both times.

look for overheating, and check all the fluids make sure they are clean. also look for leaks and cracks. other than that you will love them they are a lot of fun. with a pipe filter and jetting they can haul booty. even stock they pull like a mack truck.
