ATV Raingear???

OK, let's get into effective rain gear that REALLY keeps you dry. I would like to know what works for you and approximately how much it costs. I'll start it off: after buying many sets of el cheapo rain suits, my kids went together and got me a $200 GoreTex rain suit from Cabellas, which finally keeps me truly dry in a driving rain or wet snow. The cheap suits worked fair on top, but the pants were useless when on the seat of a quad. What's your experience?

Incidentally, I took a lot of abuse from our group when I first got the GoreTex. They said they always wanted to ride with someone wearing GoreTex, but now I don't hear any chirping when its time to pull out the rain gear. Its a lot more fun to ride when you're dry!

I had a $10 full rain suit that worked great....for about 10 minutes. First time I stepped off the bike the whole crotch ripped out. Now looking for a quality rain suit.

I bought a $20 Coleman set from walmart. Only used it once but we got over an inch of rain while we were out and I stayed dry. The weak link was water entering around the collar area and filling the hood that obviously doesn't fit over my helmet. I did get a liitle wet in the chest area from water on my neck dribbling down. Butt and legs were dry, but you can see on the right leg that the suit was beginning to melt very slightly from the exhaust heat. I wear some tall moose racing boots so I never feel that heat on the right leg that everyone complains about but I can only imagine what it would do to a bare leg if it was melting a rainsuit!

Overall it was worth the 20 bucks. I am sure that gore tex suit from cabellas is way better especially in cold weather but in a pinch the Coleman served me well. It also comes in it's own little packing case so now I just keep that in the box for a pop up storm.

YUP, Gore-Tex is THE answer!!

I resisted for a long tome as well! I have been buying it in my boots for many years, but the cost has kept me from buying it. I found a top at a reduced price and I had a gift card so I splurged and SO GLAD I did!!

Been using the cheap azz poncho's. Usually don't rain that long here in Florida but the lightning is what scares the begeebers out me!! More than once i've sat in the footwell & waited for the thunderstorm to pass.
