polaris 4wd in reverse

I am new today to the forum and have been looking for infomation about my 2000 425 Expedition. I have found some discussion about awd in reverse, but want to know if you have to hold the overide yellow button in to have awd in reverse. I thought my quad didn't have awd in reverse until reading today that Polaris awd units, all have awd in reverse. I have tried to use my quad to plow with, but gave up on it because when I tried to back out of a snow pile, it only had two drive in reverse. Would someone verify how to operate the machine to have awd in reverse, please!!!! Thanks for any reply!

Welcome and yes you have to hold it in

Yep, he's right.

Press and hold the override button and and you should have AWD in reverse as long as you hold the button in.

Thanks for the reply on how to have awd in reverse. I was told when I bought my 424 Expedition, that it did not have awd in reverse. My universal manual spoke of having it, but wasn't sure my model had it. I will try it out this winter, as I will put my plow back on and give it a good try. Thanks again for your replies.

Just make sure you push and hold the button before trying to back up. NEVER push the button while backing up with rear tires spinning, very bad things can happen!

Does anyone know a way to permanently override this? ...like wire-nutting two wires together...there's got to be a way.

why? its a safety feature, just push the button

The OP was he couldn't back out of a snow drift! Nothing mentioned about standing on the front of his atv trying to get awd and full power in reverse, thats why!
