Having to replace my 850XP's camshaft and crank

Anyone ever had to replace their camshaft and crank, after 700 miles? Mine was idling crappy, so I took it into the shop. After a week and many calls to Polaris, they are pretty sure the camshaft and crank have to replaced. They said one of the gear's was out of time.
I am really disappointed with this machine, but I have to get it fixed. Anyone ever heard of this? It's out of warranty as well, so it is going to cost an arm and a leg.

I agree.

If this can be shown as something that was done at the factory it should be covered by Polaris out of warranty or not. Hopefully your dealer will go to bat for you and hit Polaris up hard to cover it.

I was just reading the post from the guy trying to decide if he should buy Polaris, Honda, or Yamaha. I have three Polaris and if I was to ever spend the money to buy new it would be Polaris but it is stories like yours that make me hesitate to recommend them. I would feel terrible if someone bought on my recommendation and then had a problem like yours. I believe that troubles like yours are a very small minority. Not much help to you I know. I feel for you. Good luck.
