Plowing questions

I have a polaris glacier plow, but I dont have the side plates or the top rubber piece. Does anyone use these when plowing does it really make a difference.

I have a very large drivway and it takes me about 45min now hopeing to cut down the time.

Thanks jay

depends...
i dont use the sides as it turns your plow into a 1 way plow... (i push half the driveway on one side and the other, on the other)
UNLESS you plow with the plow straight (like a dozer) then the sides will help as the snow will pile up in there and not leave little lines behind it...

now the top rubber piece? depends... its ONLY usefull when you either plow very large quantities of snow as it will prevent the snow to roll down and not over the plow..

i think the rubber piece would help as i sometimes plow at higher speeds a gravel road and some snow just flies off before the plow and flies into my face... (aerodynamics) but because of the rubber ill be loosing the ability to see infront of me

i do not use either... but hope i helped on your choice.

oh and P.S. 45 mins isnt much. if im done within2 hours ( 6" snow and plus) id be happy...

otherwise less than 2-3" of snow, takes me about 45mins aswell.

I do not use the side pieces because I angle the plow blade. I want that snow to run off the side and not build up in front. The more in the plow, the heavier load your ATV has to push.

I also use the "rubber" top piece. It's called a snow deflector. This will keep most of the dry powdery snow down in front of the plow and not fly up into the radiator. If snow builds up in front of the radiator, your ATV may overheat.
