Thumbs down What is Polaris Thinking?

Went up to Osceola, WI this Christmas to play in the snow. I saw a town reeling from a billion dollar company making record profits (POLARIS) closing a plant that makes ATVs and Ranger parts, engines ans other components. They jack holes (POLARIS) has closed over half the plant and will be shutting the rest down soon. Ask where it is going -Salito, MEXICO!

That is over 550 jobs sent south to MEXICO. Cheap labor is the reason.

I have purchased my last Polaris.

An option may be to purchase an Artic Cat which is still made here.

This is such a shame because this is Osceola's largest employer.

Tears my heart out when companies do that.

Or buy a Yamaha, they are built in Newnan, Georgia. Yamaha moved ALL production BACK to the USA.

Wow, that is terrible.. It's called greed.. They would rather pay cheap labor and build junk for a few years so some of the bigwigs can retire with piles of money.. They don't care about the distant future of the product at all... Part of the reason this country is the mess it's in, is because we have no manufacturing anymore..

This is of course old news. You realize that on any ATV, you will find parts on it made in areas that are much cheaper. Its a horrible idea, and I'm sad to see it go, but its what is happening all across the board. I hope those people find bigger and better careers in their future.

As you know, Osceola wasn't an assembly plant, just a manufacturing plant. They still manufacture in Roseau, Minnesota and Spirit Lake, Iowa.

The same guy that started Polaris, also started Arctic Cat. So you're still padding his wallet if you go to AC.

I hope you don't have an iPhone, they are made exclusively in China and then sent to the US, even though Apple appears to be an American-based company.

i knew some werent made in the us, and there was that "line" that the south got mexican atvs and the north got the american ones (which is why i buy polaris as in canada they are american atvs)

my question was, if there are going to be no more polarises made in the us (like in canada)
sorry for the confusion..

Last I checked ALL can-am atv's are built in mexico as well...

And not all Polaris atv's will be made in mexico... Basically from washington state with a line basically straight to florida means anything north of the line is USA, below will be Mexican...

Everyone thinks the mexican atv's will be poor quality... Jeez one of Ford's best quality cars is built there in the fusion...

Just because it says mexican means nothing

And arctic cat can build anything they want, anywhere I WILL NEVER own one because well frankly, they suck
