Do you guys think that these would work in a 2008 Polaris Sportsman 500?
I have heard that these hide-a-way strobes can melt the headlights. Also, would you wire this right to the battery? Any advice or comment would be appreciated.

Good question. Here are just a few of the reasons:
1.) Plowing
2.) Trails Maintenance
3.) Towing
4.) Beach emergencies (Lifeguard, Police dept., etc)

In my honest opinion I would stay away from conventional strobes with the new LED technology. Here is a link to what I run in my truck as part of the FD up here in NH, and I get noticed, these are completely hide away and require no power pack to run. They are cool enough to hold while running and can run of a 12volt system for a long time before the battery drains, with a much longer life span. Also the lenses let you choose your color.

If you have any questions on wiring let me know, I have completely wired 2 vehicles with strobes and radios, the most important part is keeping the circuit isolated, so if anything goes wrong your quad will still run as normal.

Personaly I would stay away from permanent intall stuff. I use a kojak light when needed. It works perfect and doesnt require any mods.

Thanks for the replies guys. RHGuyettejr, would you wire those galls LED hide-a-ways to a switch in the pod and directly to the battery? The description on the Galls website is very brief. Plus, I am not very knowledgable when it comes to this type of stuff. Thanks!

These particular lights just require power and a switch box. First I would start by asking yourself how many lights you would want to run, and if you would need any auxiliary power for any other mods. If this is the case, I would run a new ground wire and new positive wire from the battery to the fuse box, then use this power supply for a common power for all the stuff not normally on the wheeler, you will want a 50 amp in line maxi fuse in the power wire no more than 6-8 inches from the battery, this will blow if things go wrong and keep the system from frying itself. If you are just running lights, I would select a switch box from galls that suits your needs, they sell from 2-5 switch boxes, the important thing is you get a fused switch box. I would then run power in the same fashion from the battery still with the 50 amp fuse, but skip the extra fuse box and go right to the switch box. The box will have a wire for the main power, and a small gauge (20 gauge I believe) for the ignition so it turns on on start. From this switch box you can run the power wires to the lights you want (the wires on coming out are labeled according to switch position) . You will have to ground the lights somewhere on the frame of the quad, (this is why I use the secondary fuse box because it has extra ground posts)

Now the lights have the flasher unit attached to them, but after that the wire can be cut to length, You will run the power to fused switch box, then run the ground to a safe ground. You will have a sinc wire that you connect after the flash pattern is set, and a flasher wire that you touch to the a good ground to set the flash pattern. Directions and a list of patterns are provided.

On second thought I also have a scanner and radio in my truck so you may be able to get away with a smaller maxi fuse being just the switch box.
