Any ATV trails near Asheville NC?
We wanted to do some sight seeing & arrived in Asheville NC yesterday on our trip back from Florida to IL. What a nice city built in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We really like it here & this could be a big contender for TheATVSuperStore.com new location. Question to those who live in the NC area. Are there any good ATV trails around here? I see Hatfield McCoy is about 3-4 hours from here.

NC ATV Riding -
Thor,
I do not think there is anything in your close area. I do know several guys that ride dirt bike that like to go to Brown Mountain. The link below gives you a little info in the area -

Thanks! I also saw that Harlan KY is less than 3 hours away. Looks like there are several good trail systems in a 4 hour drive.

Spent the week between Christmas and New Years at Home « Brimstone Recreation. It is a blast with just about any kind of riding you want. It was about a six or so hour run from Carbondale, Il to Huntsville, Tennessee and we hauled four quads from an Outlaw 50 to a 700 Raptor. So long as we stayed on the 'green' level trails the 50 did fine. On all the other trail levels we only rode the 700, a Can Am 650 2-up and my Sportsman 500. Gotta say that some of those trails had a rather high pucker factor, but the quads handled every hill, holler, mud hole and river crossing we rode. We all agree that we're going back again when we can.
By the way, a 'Y' designation after a trail number means 'extreme'. And me and the family can testify that its not an understatement. Not that we intentionally tried to find out.............

Just left ATV riding in late December, Oliver Springs on Mount Windrock, just outside Knoxville. The Coal Creek Company Phone (865)435-1251 has hundreds of miles of awesome riding trails from easy beginner gravel roads to the most advanced rock crawling, mud, creek crossing. The views are great and the riders are respectful of the environment and each other. Each trail is marked and are geared from bicycle down hill to ATV, Modified ATV, 4 wheel drives and modified 4 x 4. Entry fees are very reasonable. There are even giant wind generators located on top of the mountain. The company has a campground and cabins that you can ride ATV's directly to the many trail systems. At the base the temperature was about 50 degrees but at the top of the mountain it was about 30 degrees with snow. This was quite awesome for a Florida family. I only wish it was a little closer for us. If it were in our back yard, I could probably have fun wearing out a machine every other month. I would highly recommend this place for riding.
