Lost The Key. Now What?
One of my employees lost the key to the ATV. We have snow coming on Saturday and I need to get it up and running.
I bypassed the ignition on a Blaster that I used to have but can't remember how I did it.
Can I do the same thing on the Xplorer until I can get a new ignition?

Think there is a number on the cylinder. call your dealer. Other wise take the ign cylinder to lock smith and have him make you one.

Boys.. just a caution.. If the resolve for cold and tired is that he needs to hotwire the bike or something and you know how to do it.. Please respond to him in private with how its done.. We don't need the scum of the earth (motorcycle and atv theives!) learning how to do this..

Good idea. I didn't really think about people wanting to learn how to steal an atv when I posted this.
Feel free to PM me on the subject.

wait... my dealer told me polaris has 10 keys per year... meaning ALL atvs have 10 different keys (not sure if its each model or a group of them like value line and XP) but you could order/buy a key from the dealer... they just have to know what model your key is... ( it has to be written somewhere, or they could try all of the 10... maybe the older models had even less keys)
or atleast they would have blueprints/charts or the keys.. (dont know what its called for a key)
and you could have a locksmith do a key for you...
not sure about whether you want to do something like this or not, but maye just disable the key and add a button and another "secret button" that you have to press and then press the 2nd one to start it... although it would be easy to steal...
another option is to buy a generic car key switch with key... (if making a key doesnt work out)
hope i helped.

I got it squared away fellas. I ended up just getting a new ignition from the dealer. Other than the $72 it was painless. It came with two keys, one of which is now safely on my keychain.
Thanks for the help.
