Helmets...

I just got my new Polaris 550 XP camo back in November. I haven't gotten a helmet yet. I would like to have one for plowing snow on the road and for future trail riding. I don't want to spend alot of money. I have narrowed it down to 2 helmets that are camo of course from Cabelas. I just can't decided on open face or full face. I hear alot of pros and cons on both. Any input?

I would say if you're going to evenually be trail-riding just go ahead and get a full face. You never know when a branch could whap you in the face, or if you're riding with someone else and following them the chance of getting hit with a rock etc is always a possibility.

I use a snowmobile (modular-flip jaw) for cold weather riding

Just remember what it is that you are protecting when you buy your helmet. Be sure sure it has at least a DOT rating. I prefer a SNELL rated helmet. There are a lot of helmets out there, but don't buy it based on price alone.
I use an MX style with goggles and the wife prefers the full face type.

well most DOT helmets here can be gotten for 50$... either full face, 1/2 but 3/4 for 50's are rare...

i personally use a ZOX helmet, plips from 3/4 to full face... and has a built in "glass" mine came in yellow (like sun glasses)
but mine did cost me 150$ or so, only because i got it WHILE getting my atv (got more than 50% off)

hope i helped

check out this helmet. HEY! Looking for the best ATV helmet & Goggles for the trail?
it's under $100, MX style with a flip up face shield. Best of both worlds IMO. And if you call THOR he is always helpful.
