I am having a similar problem. Idles great, except for what looks to be fuel coming out of the carb when I hit the throttle (slow or hard). Just took off the camshaft today and compared it to the brand new one and I really can't tell the difference except for bigger oil holes.
Intake and Exhaust Arms look fine too.
I put a new chain on and crankshaft sprocket I also cleaned the carb, gas tank, fuel lines and check the fuel pump. It's a 1997 Sportsman 500
What do I look to do next... I thought I had the timing correct. Checked twice... ALSO when idling I sprayed starter fluid into the carb slowly and fast and it sputtered out and dies the same as if I hit the throttle. Tried the reverse override switch too, but still same issue.
