Looking for Tips on Greasing XP/X2

How the heck do you get a grease gun on the Front Upper A-Arm grease zerts. Its the ones closes to the front of the machine near the back of the radiator. For the life of me I can't figure it out.

Also I have Ricochet A-Arm guards on front and back and the rear grease zert on the back of the hub is not accessible because of the A-Arm guard. Has anyone ever replaced straight zerts with 90 degree zerts?

Any and all tricks or suggestions would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

Thanks.

saw a "small" grease gun.. not sure how much it would help...
PLUS they sell some with flexible nozzles/ tubes.... might look into one...

I jack up the rear of my xp with a floor jack. It angles the a arm guards enough to get the on the grease jerk. The front ones are a pain.

I got a grease gun with a flexible hose (about 24" long). It's a tough squeeze to get to the fitting, but much easier with the hose than the whole gun.

Thanks everyone,

Dont you just want to wrap your hands around the necks of the guys that design these things and obviously don't ride them or work on them.

Most auto parts stores sell an end for your grease gun that has a slot cut into the side starting at what would be the tip of a normal type end. It has a nylon insert that when pushed over the grease zerk it locks and seals. I took the 6 or 8 inch metal tube bent it maybe into a radius attached a rubber hose to it and to the grease gun. By doing that you can push the open side of the slotted end up from the bottom side onto the upper a arm zerk. The metal tube give you something to push it on until it catches. Also i use a grease gun with the hand squeeze rather than the handle type. Any Harley Davidson Dealer could show you this end piece. It's what is used to reach the lower neck bearing zerk on almost all touring model Harleys. But as i mentioned any auto parts store sell them. You can grease both sides in les than 5 minutes. Good luck you might have to play with the steel tube to get it bent just the way you wantit. And be prepared to pull alittle hard to remove it. It will ease up after you use it and break in the tip.
