New Tires?

My tires are getting a little low on tread, but I don't care for the expense and hassle of putting entirely new tires on, not to mention the research to find out which tires are the best for me.

Why can't we just buy a bag of knobbies and glue em on? I mean, as long as you do it before you wear the tires down to the flat part, all you need is a little build up.

Now hang with me for just a moment. They can retread tires for big rigs, I'm sure a little old atv requires far less from it's tires. I've plugged a puncture wound in my tire and it's holding great! Does anyone happen to know where to get the new knobbies from?

Thanks for the help.

I don't want to sound like a dick but a) that don't sound safe/ I've never heard of replacement nobbies and b) part of owning any recreational vehicle or any vehicle is money, weather it's a car, motorcyle boat or atv they cost time and money to maintain properly for the long haul.

I'm sure someone would be more then happy to recommend some tires for your ridding style on here.

Again sorry if I sound like an ass

Your cheapest bet is to find a set of new or like new takeoffs on craigslist....there are a lot of people that get these brand new and immediately change the tires and/or wheels.

My ATV-GURU bumpers ARE FOR SALE, front and rear, BRAND NEW. Me a reasonable offer and they are YOURS.

(As you probably already know, they are currently unavailable from TheAtvSuperstore.com /ATV-Guru for an undisclosed amount of time).

Check ebay Steve. I just found a set of front and rear stock Sportsman xp Carlisle 489`s for $120 plus $80 shipping. I ripped a hole in my right rear last time out and found out my Polaris dealer wants $150 per tire.

Agree, take-offs are probably your cheapest and safest bet especially if stockers work well for your application.

its possibly your best bet... (take-offs) or find local..
even a cheap pair of tires is better than to rethread...
NOW... gluing on some knobbies... i dont think its even possible... im sure ive seen some made for VERY large tractors...
as for gluing them on, im sure they would `rip off` on asphalt during accelerations or braking... or in any application with traction...

the tractor tires ive seen re-`knobed` were for FIELD only applications... and the tractor wont lose control is a knob gets lost in the mud/field...

as far as tires being rethreaded on trucks and cars... well its a UNI-PIECE design...
which im sure is way stronger than just knobs...
honestly i KNOW the design IS stronger, yet i dont know by how much...
the area of contact with the road is enlarged, the glues surface area aswell.....

hope i helped...

and id stay away fom rethreaded atv tires... better safe than sorry.

Aww heck...I thought maybe I had a million dollar idea here. Y'all are pretty sure there would just be knobbies flying soon as I hit the gas, eh? Well if thats no good, the zip-lock bag design for carrying extra gas is completely out of the question.

Welp, can blame a guy for trying.

Thanks for cluing me in to "take offs", I never woulda known about that.

I have a set of Pitbull Rockers that should be here tomorrow. Will be taking them to the dealer to have them swapped out soon, so if you like I could get a calculation on shipping.
