455 Diesel smokey help

hello
wounder if you can help i have a polaris 455 diesel
the bike starts fine but is kicking out blue smoke . there seams to be an oil leak wile running not found were from . and sounds like tapping / knocking
any help on what i need to do to correct this

blue/white smoke from a diesel is usually valves or rings worn.

find the figure and run a compression test on it. Remember, diesel are much higher compression than spark engines.

The blue smoke could be oil but I would suspect its fuel smoke related to an injector problem or a timing problem. Bad fuel, or weak or faulty injectors can change timing and cuase fuel smoke.

The tapping / knocking could be a "fuel knock" which is caused by incorrect timing. The condition of the fuel injectors can change the timing meaning fuel is injected at the wrong time. Diesel engine have high compression / cylinder pressures combine that with the injection of fuel at the wrong time and you get a fuel knock.

change the fuel filter and try running the engine on a fresh source of fuel from a fuel can see and see if it changes. If it does then the fuel quality was the issue. If no change then remove the fuel injectors and have them tested a local fuel injection shop. It should cost less than $25 for testing if they can adapt to them.

how long have you had this machine and any history with bad fuel or water?

I doubt its oil. If the diesel is anything like a truck diesel than the engine would rev out of control. Look up you tube videos its called a run away diesel when oil enters the combustion chamber on a diesel. Ive seen them run 10000 rpms when thisbhappens.
