Awd or not,cluster problems

Newbie here, got my first quad last week. Its a 2004 polaris sportsman 500HO. Anyhow I have no indication for high gear and AWD on my speedo. Transmission shifts to high but I cant tell if I have 2wd and or awd? Presently winter so bit cold to do many road tests! Might this be a speedo problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thx
