01 Sportsman dead battery

I have a 01 Sportsman 400 with a dead battery and is installed. I pull started it and took it for a ride. Besides a couple of things that didn't work that I understand wouldn't with a dead battery the all wheel drive wouldn't kick in. It never failed me before. The words "All Wheel Drive" at the switch light up. I'm guessing it's aslo because of the battery. But would like to know for sure without spending $ on a battery.

if battery is bad it will cause lots of problems, dont turn headlights on with dead or no battery ,it will blow all the bulbs, the battery acts as a buffer in charging system, if its bad replace it
