I've got something very similar. The suction is very good with that much contact surface, but it's got to be a flat surface.

In other words, I played around with sticking it on my helmet, but the slight curve of the helmet made it fall off at a whim. It has to be a perfectly flat surface, like piece of glass flat.

Are you able to build stuff? And how much do you want to spend?

I've been thinking about doing this.

Buy this: Curved Adhesive Mounts - GoPro Official Store: Wearable Digital Cameras for Sports

And buy this: Helmet Front Mount - GoPro Official Store: Wearable Digital Cameras for Sports

Then, you just have to build a piece that goes into the slots of the gopro front mount, and has the proper stud size for you camera.

It would be a very secure fitting, but it would take a custom piece by you. It would be about $32 for the go pro mounting, plus what it cost to build the piece that would adapt from the gopro mount to the stud mount for the camera.

I used he gopro helmet curved mount last weekend with my gopro camera on my hjc motocross helmet. The mount uses a 3M sticker and it's a solid mount and will not move. Angling the camera with the gopro legs was a bit of a challenge but I got it figured out after a few adjustments. I have it mounted on the left side of the helmet directly left of my left eye. Weight wasn't an issue. The only thing that could have been better was the sound pick up. When I spoke while recording the camera picked up my audio but did not pick up audio from my friends standing a mere 5ft away. Another thing is for whatever reason the video doesn't depict the steepness of the terrain. The video quality was outstanding as I as recording in 1080p at 30fps but I think the nature of recording video doesn't do a good job picking up inclines and declines. It might be the angle of the recording from my helmet to the ground. Perhaps fixing the gopro cam to the bike at a lower video line would depict the steepness better but then again the camera would take a muddy and rocky beating. I'm still messing around with it to figure out the best way to record ATV riding.

You will never get the true steepness of the terrain unless you have a camera that will record in 3D. I've tried all sorts of angles taking still shots, but with no depth in 2D, it just never does the trail justice. 3D cameras are starting to make an appearance, but then you need a 3D TV for the play back to be in 3D.

Perhaps an inclinometer on the quad would be a way to show the steepness of the hill/grade. I've been considering this one: eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
