Ethanol Bad ??

Has anyone heard that the ethanol in gas is really bad for the ATV engines and we should add stabilizer with every tank full ??
A friend told me this yesterday, so i wanted to see if you guys knew anything about it.
Thanks, and i love this site.

My dealer told me to stay away from ethanol. Where I buy my gas the premium 91 octane has no ethanol. I have always used premium in my atvs and motorcycles.

Ethanol is bad for all vehicles. New vehicles are better suited for it, but if you let it sit, it will put moisture in your fuel system. I put stabil in all my small engines and 5 gallon cans. Better safe than sorry.

Also, there is no reason to run high octane fuels unless you have a custom machine with higher compression. It is nice if you can find ethanol free fuel, but I still add stabil with all my fill ups. Ethanol or not.

Like Frankenstein would say Fire bad..... Ethanol bad. This should be a sticky because it keeps coming up. You need to Stabil marine ethanol treatment. (fluid is blue in color) You can find it at Walmart. A $20.00 bottle will last you a long time.

aside from a slight drop in range/millage the problem with Ethanol in the gas is that it will go bad in the gas tank if you leave it sit for a long period of time.

if you use the machine enough the fuel won't go bad because you're always putting new fuel in. I use Sea Foam when I won't use mine for more then a couple weeks at a time though. still starts and runs like new! even on cold days.

I always put sea-foam in my gas can's and small engine equipment that ends up sitting for a week or more between uses and takes a while to use up a complete tank of gas.

My daily driver is a different story, as it generally does not sit for more than a couple days and a tank is used in a week or two. But I will run a can of sea-foam through it around every oil change @ 3-4,000 miles)

I use sea-foam as I'm not a fan of sta-bil. Every time I put in in my cycle for the winter, the carb needed a cleaning come spring ( I know you should anyway, but it ran like poo). Since I started using sea-foam it fired up and ran like I parked it yeasterday.

I've also heard many guys say "Quicklsilver" gas traetment is top notch product and swear by it.....

Ethanol is basicaly alcohol & will absorb moisture out of the air & cause the gas to start to go bad in as little as a week. It will help turn the gas to varnish quicker gumming up carberators & such. It also causes premature ageing & falure to fuel hoses. I also use SEA FOAM to treat my gas!

My bike sits for a month at a time from spring to fall and then sits all winter with maybe a few rips up and down the road, SEAFOAM is simply an amazing product. I never have an issue starting my bike and never bogs out. I will use SEAFOAM always in my bike for the remainder of its life.
